Tony #130 Please do not feel bad Tony I got out with both my shirt and a little profit. One thing I refuse to do is look back to see what I left on the table!

Now what will Telus earnings bring me tomorrow before opening bell??

# 157- Bob

Relax, the VIX is just settling into a narrow trading range below 20.... it had 3 big "freak-out" moments in the past 5 years: big spike in Fall 2008; big spike during "Flash Crash" Spring 2010; big spike last year during Summer/Fall correction.... with long periods of low volatility and good markets in between....that's it for now, we're in for some good times for a year or so.

These spikes are NOT normal, they are major negative events....quite rare really.

Doesn't mean we can't get a small correction here and there, but it should be minor and viewed as a buying OP. But of course we could always get some exogenous event like 9/11 to throw a monkey wrench in the mix... no quarantees.

The VIX is a Fear index, it's just telling you that the market is experiencing "Panic Exhaustion"... traders can't freak-out continually for years at a time... eventually they get exhausted.....

By the way take a look at HXD and HXU to compare....HXD is forming a "Death Cross" and the HXU is slowly forming a "Golden Cross", this is bullish for the TSX.

We are climbing out of a deep hole made by the correction last year, so now we will be overbought for some time until we repair the damage done....and get back to where we were and beyond.

Nope, Buffet talks about avoiding bonds and gold... and look to equities...and to bet on an economic rebound.

I would be careful buying bond-like equities though... like pipelines... as rates will go up some day and they will suffer. I'm keeping mine, not adding, taking profits and allocating profits into something more economically sensitive. Fresh money is going there too....Doing quite well with my BAC-NYSE that I bought at 5 bucks last Fall(high risk so not adding now...just watching, most hated sector so should go up after 3 years of neglect...lol).

Look at the Sector Rotation chart....

Tony,

Do you agree with me Nexen looks positive and forming a golden cross. Would you purchase this here or would you wait for the actual cross to form?

Tony

I thought you got in and out daily........though I see where you could let it run on the daily chart.

still08

I only try to do one large bet like 1000 shares daily on the 5min for the 4/9/18 cross and also only get in on an upwind looking chart. I never buy in on a sideways looking graph. I've been getting better and luckier too at seeing these things. I get out daily as you never know what happens overnight.

Jim: I agree with you. Being fully invested is not what I do either. Tried it in the past, then my attention gets stretched into too many different stocks in my accounts, then I make mistakes.
